A journal of Joy, the Arts, Wellness, Parenting, and Personal Growth. Skip to primary content. But I Repeat Myself aka “I Love Repetition! December 22, 2016. A cold chill runs down my spine. How do we ask? I say simply, wearily. I want my Nabi. Esque hellscape where only two songs by my son’s currently favorite band, Enter the Haggis, are played over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again! My son is three and we like repetition. Loudly!

lipstick and fitbits | Poems thrown in a shoebox

https://lillisamy.wordpress.com/2015/08/05/lipstick-and-fitbits

Poems thrown in a shoebox. Sweet Thames, run softly till I end my song…TS Eliot, the waste land. Is that my lipstick tubes. Take forever to run out. If only toilet paper would be. As magically recurring and continuing. To be on the roll. I wondered what would make me work. Then I bought a fitbit. Now I am walking up and down the hallways. Of the house just to reach the next full mile. Lipstick and fitbits. Magical talismans in my life. This entry was posted in Poetry. August 5, 2015. Place for the Stolen.

Poems thrown in a shoebox. Sweet Thames, run softly till I end my song…TS Eliot, the waste land. I’m a man Boy George lilts in. I put my headphones on. To listen to some classical. Would that be what keeps you going? Or what makes you excited? Really what is the hook on music? I think it is like reading. Everyone likes his particular brand. And regardless it is. But still I do both music and reading no. Somehow humans have the ability to enjoy them. This entry was posted in Poetry. July 29, 2015. Two old...

Poems thrown in a shoebox. Sweet Thames, run softly till I end my song…TS Eliot, the waste land. Some writers know the point of their Work in Progress(WIP). Others take the long route, but nevertheless, will stumble upon the point. I fall into the latter type of writer. It is my preference. I’ve stumbled upon everything important in my life. Stumbled into the Lillis family on 7-27-? Stumbled into my future husband at the first school at which I was head librarian, in August 2001. Huge moments in my life.

Reflections from Room 211. Saturday, June 9, 2012. What I Have Recently Learned About The Flipped Classroom. Last week I had the honor to attend a workshop from the co-creator of the Flipped Classroom concept, Aaron Sams. Reflections from Seminary Life

Reflections from Seminary Life. Sunday, November 18, 2012. I guess this blog may as well serve as a bin for things too long for Facebook]. I know this is likely to sound very "white middle-class"-ish, (but hey, I am white middle-class, sort of), but I've been thinking about this concept of "the marginalized" that we toy with in theology and sermons (as the better of us move into actual practice), and here's where I am at:. Monday, April 16, 2012. I initially wondered if what I wanted to capture in writin...

reflections from solitude | and silence

July 25, 2012. It’s the moments in life when you realize that you need help beyond yourself that you realize that you haven’t actually “got it all together” in the way that you have been feigning. My prayer this morning comes directly from Psalm 5:. Give ear to my words, O Lord,. Listen to my cry for help,. My King and my God,. For to you I pray. In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice;. In the morning, I lay my requests before you. And wait in expectation. But I, by your great mercy,. April 30, 2012.

Odd Thoughts

Monday, March 21, 2016. I've been re-reading some of my favorite HP fanfics, and, after 17 years in the fandom, finally noticed something about the houses. The problem is that Hufflepuff's defining trait isn't weakness: it's hard work. And Slytherin's isn't evil; it's ambition. What if we have it backwards? If the Hufflepuffs and Slytherins aren't being kept apart to protect the kids? If it's to prevent them from cooperating? But if Hufflepuff and Slytherin start cooperating, ambition and hard work.
