The Quill & Hatchet: I'm a Cherry Ghost

http://www.quillandhatchet.blogspot.com/2012/10/im-cherry-ghost.html

Monday, October 1, 2012. I'm a Cherry Ghost. As an avid music fan, I get excited to see live performances when I get the chance. Since I live pretty far from any “cool” city, my options for live music are slim to none, but this week I got to see one of my all time favorite bands, Wilco, play at an amazing outdoor venue in Jacksonville Oregon! ALSO look for some new goodies in the store this Friday! I’m bringing some treasures out from my personal archives, card sets, dollies, and new prints too! 2nd priz...

The Quill & Hatchet: Snowy Brown Christmas

http://www.quillandhatchet.blogspot.com/2011/12/snowy-brown-christmas.html

Tuesday, December 20, 2011. This madness known as “Homemade Christmas Card” started over 10 years ago and I haven’t been able to kick the habit since. Every year I design and make my own Christmas cards, and every year the engineering and production of these tilts a little farther towards the “weird cat lady” end of the spectrum. This fat Santa gave me the idea for this years’ card. He’s holding a miniature card! I started by making a prototype:. I applied a watercolor wash to the bodies:. This giant elf...

The Quill & Hatchet: Working in the studio

http://www.quillandhatchet.blogspot.com/2011/11/working-in-studio.html

Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Working in the studio. Just finished working on the illustrated Snow White book, here are a few shots of the studio mess.I used a combination of ink and watercolor, and I use an angled dip pen to do all the black line work. Posted by camille rose garcia. November 17, 2011 at 6:09 PM. Please try and blog a little bit more, even if its just a few musings. I would love to learn more about your process.many thanks, sierra romaine. November 17, 2011 at 7:06 PM. I'm a Cherry Ghost.

The Quill & Hatchet: Where Does Inspiration Come From?

http://www.quillandhatchet.blogspot.com/2012/07/where-does-inspiration-come-from.html

Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Where Does Inspiration Come From? For the painting I am currently working on, these clowns that I bought on ebay a while back insisted on being featured. Although I usually don’t paint clowns, for reasons I won’t go into, I wanted to do something circusy. I also recently saw the Mexican women surrealist show, “In Wonderland” at the LA Count Museum, and it was unbelievable. Remedios Varo was one of my favorites, and I became a little obsessed with drawing her. Join my Mailing List.

Nature Can be Unkind" print launch this Friday, April 19th, 12 noon PST. What’s that flapping in that tree? Is it the rustling of a hungry pair of owls you hear? Posted by camille rose garcia.

KrossD: May 2014

http://krossd-art.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Artist/writer utterly anchored to Los Angeles. Friday, May 23, 2014. Work In Progress: Nicole Bruckman mural at Gabba Gallery. A little back story about worlds colliding - in November 2012, I walked into the now sadly defunct WWA Gallery, to see a group show about identity called " We Are Who We Pretend To Be. One of the artists that really captured my attention there was Nicole Bruckman. The art world is funny like that. We eventually trip over each other. Apparently I left just before Atticus himself s...

Artist/writer utterly anchored to Los Angeles. Sunday, February 23, 2014. 5 Questions with ANTHONY AUSGANG. To paraphrase the worst Clash album ever, let's cut the crap! There's about zero chance that you're reading THIS blog without knowing who the hell Anthony Ausgang. Is Unless you're my mother, in which case, Hi Mom! But really, do you need me to remind you of Anthony Ausgang's secure seat at the pop surrealist table? I can safely assume you're familiar with 'Dude Descending A Staircase'. He had this...

KrossD: Preview: Hudson Marquez - "Rhythm And Shoes" at La Luz De Jesus

Artist/writer utterly anchored to Los Angeles. Saturday, December 27, 2014. Preview: Hudson Marquez - "Rhythm And Shoes" at La Luz De Jesus. When I first wrote. About Hudson Marquez, there was no official website. For the man. That's all changed now and, artists being Narcissists at heart, I'll take a chunk of credit for that. Hudson was a partner in the rabble rousing art collective Ant Farm. He created Cadillac Ranch. So, " Rhythm And Shoes. Opening January 9th at La Luz De Jesus. La Luz De Jesus.

Artist/writer utterly anchored to Los Angeles. Thursday, September 18, 2014. DEATH TO BUNNY - The lowbrow rut. All that talent, and not one Goddamn idea! I can't bash my head against that particular brick wall any longer. Fine, we got Mark Ryden. Out of the deal. But, there's the rub, right? That is a Pandora's Box if there ever was one. Now, if an artist taps into an immediately recognizable style, and that "style" can be manipulated into financial security, can I really be mad at him/her? So, back arou...

Artist/writer utterly anchored to Los Angeles. Saturday, February 14, 2015. A Special Valentine with Douglas Alvarez and Terri Berman. I'm not really sure where I first met Douglas Alvarez. I recently dropped by the couple's "tree-house" to chat about how they met, how they work together and what they fight about. How did you two meet? Douglas: Art school. CSUN. Terri: In the computer lab. Douglas: Yeah, I was the lab tech. Did you start dating right away? Douglas: Real, super-casual. Has there been a co...

Artist/writer utterly anchored to Los Angeles. Sunday, August 31, 2014. Alex Schaefer Feels Even Weirder (Part Two). Got cut short by a. Heinous act of art terrorism. While the saga of "the last burning bank painting" rages on, I thought I would try to ease Alex's mind, and just talk about other things. How do you think that went? So, how are you holding up, Alex? Whatever, you know? I'm just having fun with it, and when you get to a certain point, where you don't give a fuck. I did, yeah. I went to ...

Is my art pick of the YEAR! As the title suggests, it is a visual examination of oft-told campfire stories, tall tales, and sinister folklore. What do our darkest fears look like? What is lurking under the bed? What happens when you let three dozen artists tackle those myths that keep them up at night? And Ransom and Mitchell. We wan...

Bizarre Vintage Halloween Costumes.

Quill and Ember | Finding inspiration in the everyday

Finding inspiration in the everyday. Tags: american history x. Take the episode when Jaime gets back to Cersei in King’s Landing finally after a long imprisonment and many trials. The question apparently (I haven’t yet watched it), was was the sex scene in Joffrey’s tomb consensual? In the book’s version I would give a resounding ‘yes! Twisted and a bit gross in the usual Jaime and Cersei style, but yes, consensual. But it got me to thinking about what it was that I liked so much about the Jaime-Brienne ...

Even if the creation is a bit naive and unsophisticated, it always shares a special connection with our mind. So cheers to doing it yourself, always learning, trying, failing and enjoying the small stuff. Life is better when it is a bit messy. Wednesday, 14 January 2015.

I can understand why many college students prefer to go into engineering, business, pharmacy, or even teaching. While those majors don’t guarantee you a job, you’re probably in a better position of finding one (and making good money) than an English major. Thus, you make more money, pay off your loans sooner and start saving. 8220;, author Verlyn Klinkenborg.
