Saturday, September 30, 2006. Geeking-Up on RubyOnRails in MCR. So here I am in Manchester at MDDA. For a (free) training day. On Ruby and Rails. Organised by those nice Geekup.org people. A few of them are familiar from my recent trip to d.Construct, so it'll be good to renew some acquantances. An early start, but the journey up up the train along the hope valley line. Was stunning - mist clearing, sun rising etc. Has some Ruby-like stuff in it. So here goes. Posted by John at 9:20 AM. A pretty interest...

Ben Lobo: June 2006

Tuesday, June 27, 2006. Choosing an open source CMS. Personally, I'd recommend Plone. To anybody looking for an open source content management system (CMS). But perhaps I'm a little biased towards it because I've done a lot of work with Plone and I know how good it is. So here's an unbiased article about how to choose an open source CMS. But Plone's flexibility means that it can be customized to remove or hide a lot of it's features until they become necessary, making it very easy to use. DConstruct 2006...

Adactio: Journal—Battle for the planet of the APIs
https://adactio.com/journal/6291
Battle for the planet of the APIs. June 17th, 2013. Back in 2006, I gave a talk at dConstruct. The Joy Of API. It basically involved me geeking out for 45 minutes about how much fun you could have with APIs. This was the era of the mashup taking data from different sources and scrunching them together to make something new and interesting. It was a good time to be a geek. Anil Dash did an excellent job of describing that time period in his post. The Web We Lost. Is well worth a listen. Open over time....

Sunday, September 10, 2006. I've been d.construct-ed (My trip to d.construct06) part 1. It's been about a day since I've returned from Brighton and I'm still slightly reeling from from the whirlwind of web-wonder that was d.construct06. It was a great chance to meet a whole load of web people, drink, learn about some really interesting stuff (web related of course) and then meet more people and drink some more. What more could you ask for! In Derby) and the mighty Tunng. Session 1 : "Web Services: Fuelli...

Monday, September 18, 2006. On Friday September 9th I went to the d.Constuct. DConstruct is a one day conference about the future of web applications. There were many speakers, with Jeff Vee. N and Jeremy Keith. Being a couple of my favourites. Although I wasn't technically savvy with all that was discussed, I'm keen now to learn some more JavaScripting and build the next killer app to take over the world.or something. S were discussed more than once, and I want to start looking into these further.
